AWD Flying High in Ireland

14.09.2018

We had a great time yesterday over in Dublin with the Department of International Trade at a Meet the Buyer event with the Dublin Airport Authority (DAA). The event was just one of a recent string of meetings we’ve had in Ireland over the past few months, where, thanks to the growth in the construction sector, we are working on more Irish projects than ever before.

The DAA showcased their plans for the future developments in Dublin, where they are investing a total of 1 billion euros over the next 6 years, to renovate the existing airport with plans including a new runway and the demolition of the existing airport hangar to free up space for terminal expansions. With 85% of Irish Air traffic going through Dublin, there are many exciting opportunities for businesses like AWD to collaborate in the rejuvenation of the area.

We also had the opportunity to meet with the DAA procurement team to find out more detail about the opportunities available in temporary works and access engineering. The meeting was also a great opportunity to network with other project collaborators; we met with the UK Ambassador to Ireland, the UK Minister for Trade and spent time networking with other delegate companies, including 3 others from the Scottish business community.

The visit comes just a few weeks after our meeting with Ivan McKee MSP, the Scottish Government Minister for Trade, Investment and Innovation in Dublin who is supporting Scottish companies exporting to Ireland.
